Two Coil Types One Pod System

There are many of you who are new vapers or old vapers who are just trying out the pod system like Omari-o Slyeek and are a little confused. When your pod has two coils with different resistances such as 1 ohm and 0.6 ohm, which one should you use?

This article will explain what is the difference between the two and which one you should use.

Lately there have been quite a number of pod systems that have two different coil options.

Usually one coil will have a resistance above 1 ohm such as 1.2 ohm, 1.6 ohm and another one has a resistance below 1 ohm like 0.6 ohm or 0.7 ohm.

There are many variations but generally divided into two,> 1 ohm and <1 ohm.

Which one to wear? You are free to use any of the nicotine salts.

You can also use a coil below 1 ohm for nicotine salts. But I wouldn't suggest coils above 1 ohm for freebase.

Why? Read on.

The Science Behind This Resistance

Pod System when viewed from the power settings can generally be categorized as two, fixed and adjustable wattage.

Fixed wattage means you can't set wattage at all, while adjustable wattage means you can adjust wattage

We discuss the fixed wattage first.

Pod systems with non-adjustable wattages already have their settings built in. If a coil> 1 ohm is installed, send X watts. If a coil <1 ohm is installed, send a watt of Y.

Each pod has a different wattage rule so I can't specify (and don't know) for each. But in general, if the coil is above 1 ohm, the wattage sent will be smaller than the coil below 1 ohm.

Why?

Because coils below 1 ohm are intended for nicotine freebase. Freebase is usually thicker than nicotine salt. Freebases can have 70 VG whereas nic salts usually have 50 VG. VG is thicker than PG.

So because the freebase is thick, the temperature required to evaporate is higher, so a higher wattage is sent.

It makes sense right, if the liquid is thick then it needs a higher temperature to evaporate.

In addition, usually the coil for freebase is usually physically larger, such as a mesh coil. Because the coil is larger, the surface area is also larger and requires a higher wattage to heat evenly and quickly.
